back
in
the office or home -
yet
you can
still
receive
your documents anywhere else on earth you can get access
to another fax
machine!
Here
'
s a
brief
desc

ption of how it works. (Keep reading for further details
.)
First,
you
create a four-d igit access code, enter
it into
your fa

set
the
fax
machine
for proper Fax Retrieve operation.
Your fax mac hine now saves
incoming
documents
into
its
memory.
T

from
a

yo

your

Before we go
into details, here
are instructions on
making
related settings -
includi

a
couple
of
optional
ones.

Important:
Your
fax
machine
must
have an access code set up
before you
can
use
the Fax

To set
the
access code:

~/Program,
J,

Set Number of
Toll-Saver
Rings
If you
'
re
calling
long-distance
to retrieve messages
from your machine, yo
u
'
ll
want to know when
it
doesn't
have any messages to retrieve. That
'
s the
purpose
of the
toll-saver
rings setting.
Your fax
machine
is
factory-set
to answer after
just
two rings if the Fax Retrieve
System is turned
on
and there
are documents stored in
its
memory for retrieval.
You specify a
certain
number of
toll-saver rings
and then, when yo
u
call
in
from
a remote fax
machine
for
any
fax
retrieval
which may
be
necessary, your fax
machine will
tip
you
as
to what
to do.
If
your
machine rings
more
than
twice,
you can
hang
up, knowing that yo ur machine has
no
documents for yo
u
to
retrieve. If
your fax
machine
answe rs
after only
two ri ngs, yo
u
know to stay on
the line
and use
the
Fax
Retrieve
System.
Important
: Th is setting
is
different from the one you used on page
21 to
set how
many times
your
phone
would
ring
before
answering.
When
Fax
Retrieve is turned on
,
that usual rings setting is inactive.
To set the
number
of
"toll-saver"
rings:
1. Press
~/Program,
J,
0, 6,
Mode/Enter.
Fax Fwrd # Rings

(02
-
10
):
02
2. Use the numeric
keypad to enter the
desired number of toll-saver
rings.
While
you
may select any quantity from
2
to 10
(as
you see has been done
in
step
1,
add the leading zero to
any
single-digit
quantity),
we recommend
that
you
set
the number of toll-saver
ri
ngs to at least four (and
not
to two
,
since
that's the
factory setting for number of
rings
when there is
at
least
one document in
memory;
if
you must change this setting
,
see page 59)
.
Once this setting
is as
you
wish
,
press
Mode/Enter.
