Troubleshooting Guide
What might seem to be a malfunction in your unit may
just be the result of slight misoperation or miswiring.
Before calling service, first check the following table
for possible problems,
General
.7 The power does not turn ON.
v' Tile fuse has blown.
_, After checking for short circuits in the wires, replace the fuse with
one with the same ratinq
v' No ACC position on vehicle ignition.
_, Connect the same wire to the ignition as the battery wire.
? Nothing happens when the buttons are pressed.
v' Tile computer chip in the unit is not functioning normally.
,, Press the reset button on the unit (page 5).
? There's a source you can't switch.
v' There's no CD inserted.
,, Set the media you want to listen to. If there's no media in this
unit, you can't swhich to each source.
v' The Disc changer isn't connected.
,, Connect the Disc changer. If the Disc changer isn't connected to
it's input terminal, You can't switch to an external disc source.
? The faceplate does not open or close,
v' The faceplate is incorrectly attached.
,, Reattach the faceplate correctly, See the section on <Removing
the Faceplate>(page 1 1).
.7 The memory is erased when the ignition is turned OFF.
v' The battery wire has not been connected to the proper terminal.
,, Connect the wire correctly, referring to the section on
<Connectinq Wires to Terminals>.
v' The ignition and battery wire are incorrectly connected.
,, Connect the wire correctly, referring to the section on
<Connecting Wires to Terminals>.
.7 Even if Loudness is turned ON, high-pitched tone isn't compensated
for.
v' Tuner source is selected.
_, High-pitched tone isn't compensated for when in Tuner source.
• 7 No sound can be heard, or the volume is low.
v' The fader or balance settings are set all the way to one side.
_, Center the fader and balance settings.
v' The input/output wires or wiring harness are connected incorrectly.
_, Reconnect the input/output wires or the wiring harness correctly.
See the section on <Connectinq Wires to Terminals>.
v' The values of Volume offset are low.
_, Increase the values of Volume offset. (page 8)
.7 The sound quality is poor or distorted.
v' One of the speaker wires is being pinched by a screw in the car.
_, Check the speaker wiring.
v' The speakers are not wired correctly.
_, Reconnect the speaker wires so that each output terminal is
connected to a different speaker.
.7 The Security Code item isn't displayed in the Menu System.
v' The Security Code function is already activated.
_, When the Security Code function is activated it isn't displayed in
the menu items.
.7 The Touch Sensor Tone doesn't sound.
v' The preout jack is being used.
_, The Touch Sensor Tone can't be output from the preout jack.
.7 Even though the vehicle light switch is turned ON, the unit's display
won't dim.
v' The dimmer wire isn't connected.
_, Connect the dimmer wire correctly.
