OPERATIONS
AUDIO SOURCE REPRODUCTION
1. Press POWER switch to turn on power.
2. Use audio input selector to choose a listening source.
Turn off the TAPE
2/DAT 2 MONITOR
before playing TAPE
1/
DAT 1, LINE, CD, TUNER or PHONO sources (TAPE 2 indicator on
the display goes off).
Select:
TAPE
1/DAT 1: To listen to cassette tape or DAT.
TAPE 2/DAT 2: To
listen
to
cassette
tape
or
DAT
(from
unit
connected to TAPE 2/DAT 2 jacks).
LINE:
To listen to the components connected to LINE jacks.
CD:
To listen to compact discs.
TUNER:
To listen to radio.
PHONO:
To listen to records.
3. Operate selected source component.
® Refer to component's own instruction manual.
4. Adjust volume.
* If left/right volume balance is not correct, then use the BALANCE
switches to adjust it. Press LEFT and RIGHT together to reset
balance to center.
5. Adjust tone.
* Use TREBLE and BASS switches to adjust tone as desired.
* To use ACOUSTIC
MEMORY,
select with the SELECT switch.
(Refer to page 7)
* Use SURROUND
switches to select desired surround mode.
If the source is monophonic (ordinary TV or AM radio), then select
SIMULATED
SURROUND.
For the method of adjusting the DOLBY SURROUND level, refer
to page 5.
° Refer to page 8 when using SURROUND
FIELD MEMORY.
VIDEO SOURCE REPRODUCTION
1. Press POWER
switch to turn on power.
2. Turn off VIDEO ADAPTOR
switch if the VIDEO ADAPTOR jacks
are not connected to anything.
The VIDEO ADAPTOR
indicator on the display goes off.
Switch OFF the TAPE 2/DAT 2 MONITOR.
3. Use video input selector to choose a video source.
Select:
VCR
1: To watch video from unit connected to VCR
1 jacks.
VCR 2: To watch video from unit connected to VCR 2 jacks.
VCR 3: To watch video from unit connected to VCR 3 jacks.
VDP: To view a video disc player.
TV: Use the TV TUNER when watching a TV program.
VIDEO
1: To use a video device connected to the VIDEO
1 jacks.
VIDEO 2: To use a video device connected to the VIDEO 2 jacks.
4. Turn on monitor TV power.
* To use S-Video connector,
be sure to set switch correctly on
monitor TV, as necessary (as described in monitor TV instruction
manual).
The monitor TV S-VIDEO connector can be used to view playback
when the VSA-1000 is connected to a VDP, VCR 1, or VCR 2
by the S-VIDEO connectors.
5. Operate your selected video component.
* Refer to component's instruction manual.
6. Adjust volume balance.
* Adjust balance as desired.
7. Adjust tone.
* Adjust treble, bass, and select surround mode as desired.

Using a Video Adaptor
NOTE:
1. Press POWER
switch to turn on.
COPYING AUDIO TAPES
You can copy from TAPE
1/DAT
1 to TAPE 2/DAT 2 MONITOR.
1, Press POWER
switch to turn on.
2. Turn on power of deck connected to TAPE 1/DAT 1 jacks and load
recorded cassette.
3. Turn on power of deck connected to TAPE 2/DAT 2 jacks and load
cassette for recording.
4. Use audio input selector to select TAPE
1/DAT
1.
5. Begin play of TAPE
1/DAT
1 deck. Begin recording on TAPE 2/
DAT 2 deck.
¢ If the TAPE 2/DAT 2 jack cassette deck is a three head tape deck,
you can listen to the recorded sound by selecting the TAPE 2/
DAT 2 MONITOR
with the audio input selector.
NOTE:
When the power is OFF the input selector does not function. If you wish
to record on a tape or VCR, be sure the power is ON.
RECORDING
ON VIDEO TAPE
Recording to VCR 2, VCR 3
You can use VCR 2 or VCR 3 to record the source selected by the VIDEO
INPUT SELECTOR.
1. Press the POWER
switch to turn on.
3. Operate the selected source.
NOTE:
When the power is OFF the input selector does not function. If you wish
to record on a tape or VCR, be sure the power is ON.
