Machine Balancing

When machining in any angular position other than horizontal, it is necessary to balance the
machine. Attach the balance plate to the machine. Failure to balance the machine correctly
will increase the load on the drive components.
To obtain balanced rotation, add the weight and move its position on the plate to obtain
smooth rotation. There should be no increase or decrease in rotational speed. Pay attention
to the 7 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions as this will be where the weight shift will be greatest.
For more accurate balancing, the motor can be removed and the machine swung by hand
until it rotates at an even pace with no evidence of speed increase.
