Operation

All shifting between forward/reverse must be done at engine idle speed. Shifting at higher speeds may damage
the drive/reverse gear and will also be uncomfortable for those on board. If the boat has two or three engines, it
is important that they are all running during maneuvers astern (rearward movement), otherwise water might get
into the exhaust of the engine which is not running when the backwash catches up with the boat. Water getting
into the engine can cause serious damage.

Checking instruments

Check instruments regularly. Stop the engine if there is an ab-
normal reading or if an alarm (accessory) sounds. The following
normal readings apply:
Oil pressure
Normal operating oil pressure is approx. 150 - 500 kPa (21-71
psi). At engine idle this is normally lower. Your boat may be
equipped with a low oil pressure acoustic alarm and warning
lamp (accessory).
IMPORTANT! If oil pressure is too low: Stop the engine
immediately and investigate.
Engine coolant temperature
The temperature gauge should read between 70 - 90°C (158 -
194°F) normally. Your boat may be equipped with an engine
coolant temperature acoustic alarm and warning lamp (acces-
sory).
IMPORTANT! If engine coolant temperature is too high:
Idle the engine, shift to reverse and then to forward. Idle
the engine for 2 - 3 minutes and shut off the engine if the
temperature does not sink. Investigate and correct the
malfunction.
Charge
The operating charge is approx. 14 V. When the engine is stop-
ped battery voltage is approx. 12 V.
