Problem
The trencher does not dig fast enough.
The malfunction indicator light (MIL)
comes on (Kohler machines only).
Possible Cause
1. The digging teeth are worn.
2. The chain you are using is not
appropriate for the type of ground.
3. The hydraulic system is overheated.
4. The hydraulic system is obstructed,
contaminated, or damaged.
1. The engine is too hot.
2. There is old fuel in the fuel tank.
3. The fuel-shutoff valve is not open
completely.
4. The air cleaner is dirty.
5. The battery is not charged.
6. Incorrect fuel filters are being used or
the fuel filters are dirty.
7. The connections to the sensors
electronic control unit (ECU) and fuel
injectors are not secured properly.
8. There is low voltage from the battery.
9. A fuse is blown.

Corrective Action
1. Replace the digging teeth.
2. Evaluate the ground type and change
chains if necessary.
3. Shut down and allow the system to
cool.
4. Contact your Authorized Service
Dealer.
1. Turn the engine off and let it cool.
2. Use new fuel.
3. Open the fuel-shutoff valve.
4. Make sure that the air cleaner and
precleaner are clean. Replace them if
necessary.
5. Charge or replace the battery.
6. Contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
7. Contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
8. Ensure that the battery is fully charged.
9. Check and replace any blown fuses.
