4. Safety regulations
Use of the intrinsically safe Smartphone Smart-Ex 201 or Ex-Handy 209 as-
sumes that the operator observes the conventional safety regulations and has
read the certificate of conformity in order to eliminate malfunction of the device.
The following items are to be observed:
Operating conditions:
• It must be ensured that the device is not taken into zones 0, 1, 20 or 21.
• The device has to be protected against strong impacts.
• The device must be protected against exposure to UV-radiation.
• Do not disassemble or open the device excepted for the following reasons:
It is allowed to open the SIM Card Cover in ordinary locations to get access
to the card. Before entering the hazardous locations the SIM Card cover
must be mounted. The Audio Jack cover must not be closed inside and
outside hazardous locations.
Electrostatic:
• The unit must not be used in close proximity to processes generating high
electrostatic charges.
Charging and data connections:
• The Smartphone may only be charged outside the hazardous area.
• The Smartphone may only be charged in a temperature range of 0 – 45 °C.
• The data transfer connections is only allowed outside the hazardous areas.
• The nominal voltage for charging is 5V
• For charging or data transfer connections the USB data cable PC S201 must
be used.
• It is only allowed to connect devices to the USB interface in ordinary
locations. Before entering the hazardous location It must be ensured that
nothing Is connected to the SB plug.
• It must be ensured that the power supply used fulfills requirements.
Accessoires:
• Only accessories approved by ecom instruments GmbH may be used or
intrinsically safe accessories applying to the relevant entity parameter for
the audio jack as stated in document 500059EX04A.
