Requirements
• Unshielded Twisted Pair Patch Cable (UTC) x 1
• Modular Connectors x 2
• Crimping Tool x 1
• Cable Tester x 1
• Wire Cutter x 1
Installation
Notes: Wire Cutter's are very sharp and should be used with extreme care.
Wiring should be completed by a certified professional as per the local safety and
building code guidelines.
1. Carefully using a Wire Cutter strip the jacket off of the UTC Cable, 1.5" from the end
of the cable exposing the four pairs of twisted wires.
2. Spread the four pairs of twisted wires apart.
Note: CAT5e cables have a pull sting that will need to be removed.
CAT6 Cables have a spine that will need to be removed.
3. Untwist the four pairs of wires, creating eight separate wires.

4. Arrange the eight wires using either the T568A or T568B pattern. See
Orientation
for more information.
5. Using the Wire Cutters, cut the eight wires 0.5" from the end of the wires, leaving a
clean straight cut at the end of the wires.
6. Carefully insert the wires in the Modular Connector. Ensure that each of the wires
passes through the guides that are inside of the Modular Connector.
7. Push the Modular Connector into the slot in the Crimping Tool and squeeze down
on the handle to secure the wires in the Modular Connector.
8. Repeat steps 1 - 7 on the other end of the UTC Cable.
9. Using the Cable Tester on both ends of the UTC Cable to test each of the pins in the
Modular Connector.

Note: Start from the left of the Modular Connector and work towards the right (Pin
1 - 8).
