DUAL VOLTAGE SWITCH (bottom of kettle)

This kettle can be used in countries that operate on 100-120V and in countries that operate on 220-240V. To switch the voltage, use a flat head screwdriver or coin to change the position of the dial so it is pointing to the necessary voltage.

USING YOUR KETTLE

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Remove any packaging, stickers, or accessories from both the inside and outside of the kettle. Fill the kettle with clean water to the maximum line and boil. Discard the water and repeat the process once.

  1. Place the kettle on a stable, heat-resistant, and level surface.
  2. With kettle unplugged, add the desired amount of water to the kettle. Do not fill below the minimum line (0.2L) or above the maximum line (0.8L). See figure 1.

  3. Hold the Handle and cover the kettle with the Lid.
  4. Plug the kettle into an outlet.
  5. Turn the Power Knob to BOIL. The light on the Knob will turn on.
  6. Once the water has boiled, the light will turn off. Turn the Power Knob to OFF and unplug the kettle.

KEEP WARM MODE

After boiling water, you can turn the Power Knob to KEEP WARM. The kettle will keep the water at 150°F (65°C).

When the Power Knob is closer to the BOIL position, the kettle will keep the water at a higher temperature. When the Power Knob is closer to the OFF position, the kettle will keep the water at a lower temperature.

After use, turn the Power Knob to OFF and unplug the kettle.


Never fill the kettle above the maximum water line. Water may be ejected from the spout and cause scalding.

Note: If water level is too low when kettle is turned on, it will automatically shut off. Unplug the kettle and allow to cool down for 5 to 10 minutes. Fill the kettle above the minimum line before resuming normal use.

Never operate the kettle without water.

Hold the Top of the kettle with one hand and pinch the Base Grip with the other. Pull from the Base Grip to expand the kettle.

Lift Handle backward until it locks into place.

Slide Handle Release Button down and fold Handle back into Lid.

Hold the Top of the kettle and press downward to collapse.

Note: For the Handle to collapse, align the notch in the Lid with the protrusion in the Top.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

NEVER IMMERSE THE KETTLE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS.

  • Unplug the power cord and cool the kettle before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth or sponge.
  • Remove stubborn spots with a moist cloth and mild liquid detergent.
  • Do not use abrasive scouring pads or detergents.

DESCALING

To extend the service life of the kettle, descale it regularly.

  1. Fill the kettle up to the maximum line with a mixture of one-part white vinegar and two parts water. Turn on and wait for the appliance to complete boil cycle then turn off and unplug.
  2. Let the mixture remain inside the kettle overnight.
  3. Discard the mixture the next morning.
  4. Fill the kettle up to the maximum line with clean water and boil again.
  5. Discard the boiled water to remove any remaining scale and vinegar.
  6. Rinse the inside of the kettle with clean water.

STORAGE

  • Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
  • Make sure all parts are clean and dry.
  • Store the appliance in a clean and dry place.

ENVIRONMENT

Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM SOLUTION
Water tastes like plastic This happens when the kettle is new. Fill the kettle with clean water to the maximum line and boil. Discard the water and repeat the process.
The kettle is not turning on Check that the power cord is properly connected.
Automatic shut-off occurs when water level is below the minimum line. Unplug the kettle and allow to cool down for 5 to 10 minutes. Fill kettle above the minimum line before resuming normal use.
Contact customer service.
The Power Knob light turns on but is not boiling Contact customer service.
Kettle turns off before water is fully boiled Kettle needs descaling. See "Cleaning & Maintenance."
Contact customer service.
Kettle does not turn off after boiling Contact customer service.

Note: If there is any damage to the kettle or power cord, contact customer service. Only authorized service centers may repair or replace. Do not attempt to dismantle the kettle in any way.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electric appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed:

  1. Read all instructions.
  2. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  3. Before connecting the kettle, check whether the voltage indicated on the appliance (underside of kettle and base unit) corresponds with the main voltage in your home. If this is not the case, contact your dealer and do not use the kettle.
  4. Switch off and unplug from the outlet before filling, emptying, cleaning, or when not in use.
  5. Do not fill past the maximum line as this can damage the unit and/or cause boiling water to be ejected. Fill with cold water only.
  6. To avoid fire, do not operate in the presence of explosive and/or flammable fumes. Do not operate or place any part of this appliance on or near gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
  7. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or a counter. Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces.
  8. Never yank on the cord, as this may damage the cord and eventually cause a risk of electric shock.
  9. If the cord or plug is damaged or malfunctions in any way, return the appliance to your nearest authorized service agent for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  10. Avoid touching the surface of the hot kettle, use the handle.
  11. To avoid possible steam injury, do not face the spout when operating the kettle.
  12. If operated on wood furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.
  13. To avoid scalding, always ensure the lid is correctly positioned before operation.
  14. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed while heating.
  15. Remove and replace the lid carefully when hot.
  16. Extreme caution must be used when moving the kettle containing hot water. Never lift the kettle by its lid. Always use the handle.
  17. Do not switch your kettle on if it is empty.
  18. To protect from electrical hazard, do not immerse this kettle, power base, or cord in any liquid.
  19. Use the kettle only with the supplied base unit. Do not use the base unit for other purposes.
  20. While the water is boiling, or in the short time after the water boils, do not attempt to remove the lid in order to avoid the steam scalding your hand.
  21. Regularly descale kettle to maintain normal operation.
  22. Turn off the switch and unplug the kettle after boiling.

CORD SAFETY

  • A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is provided to reduce risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:
    1. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least equal to the electrical rating of the appliance;
    2. The extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-prong cord; and
    3. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

ELECTRICAL 3-PRONG PLUG

Appliance is equipped with a 3-prong grounding-type plug. It should be properly connected to a grounding-type outlet. The plug is designed to fit ONLY a 3-grounding outlet unit, and as such, the grounding prong should never be removed. If needed, a 2-prong adapter may be used if local codes allow it.
