USING YOUR COFFEE MAKER

HOW TO BREW COFFEE

  1. Plug the appliance into a wall outlet.
  2. Open the lid, by lifting the lid upward.
  3. Fill the water reservoir with water. You may use the given carafe to fill the water reservoir.
    How to brew coffee - Step 1
    Note: Do Not open the lid while brewing is in process!
    Note: The minimum amount of water is 2 cups. The maximum amount of water is 10 cups.
    Note: Do not fill the water tank above the 10 indicator line.

    IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GROUND COFFEE:
    • Avoid using finely ground coffee as it may block the filter.
    • Only use medium to coarse ground coffee.
    • Do not overfill the ground coffee filter.
  4. Pour the ground coffee into the ground coffee filter.

    Do not overfill the ground coffee filter.
  5. Close the lid. Insert the carafe.
    NOTE: The machine will not work if the carafe is not in place.
  6. Press the on/off switch to start brewing.
  7. When the brewing is complete, the machine will keep the coffee warm for as long as the power is on.
    Do Not touch the heating plate after brewing it will be very hot! Only hold the carafe by the handle the glass is very hot!
  8. Wait at least a half hour till the machine cools down to touch the hot parts.
    Note: Insert the ground coffee filter properly, the lid will not close otherwise.

STORAGE

  • Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
  • Make sure all parts are clean and dry.
  • Put the coffee maker in a clean and dry place.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
The carafe is leaking. The carafe is not inserted properly. Make sure the center of the jug aligns with opening of the funnel.
The coffee drops too slowly or overflows from the edge of the removable funnel. Coffee grounds is too fine. Use coarser coffee powder.
The filter is too dirty, rinse the filter with water.
There is coffee residue in the carafe. The filter is blocked. Clean the filter.
The coffee grounds is too fine, use coarser coffee grounds.
Water leaks from the bottom of the coffee maker. There is leftover water in the machine. Do not use the coffee maker again, contact customer service.
The coffee maker is not working. The coffee maker heats in an abnormal state, which causes the safety protective system to activate. The coffee maker should be able to work after keeping it still for 30 seconds, otherwise contact customer service.
The machine lacks water. Fill the machine with enough water.

Do not take apart the appliance by yourself if the machine does not work, contact customer service.

DESCALING THE COFFEE MAKER

  • After using your coffee maker for a while, limescale will begin to build up inside the machine. It is important to descale your appliance every 2-3 months. If the machine is used daily, the descaling process should be done monthly.
  • Plug the appliance into a wall outlet.
  • Mix equal parts vinegar and water and pour it into the coffee maker.
  • Switch the power on to start the brewing process.
  • When the brewing process is complete, fill up the coffee maker with water and begin brewing again. This is to rinse it of any remaining vinegar.
  • You may have to run one more cycle of brewing water to remove the vinegar odor.
  • To remove deep stains from the carafe, clean it with a soft sponge and baking soda. If the stains have not been removed, mix 1 cup water and 1 cup vinegar with ¼ cup of baking soda and allow it to sit overnight.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE


Always remove the plug from the outlet and allow the appliance to cool before cleaning.

Do not immerse the coffee maker or base into water or any other liquid.

  • GROUND COFFEE FILTER: Wash with warm soapy water and use a soft cloth to dry.
  • CARAFE: Clean the carafe after each use. Rinse and clean the inner walls with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth.
  • BASE: Clean the base with a dry cloth. Do not use harsh cleaning agents or metal brushes, in order to avoid scratching the stainless steel surface.
  • Use a sponge or non metal brush to clean the inside and outside of the coffee maker. Then wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

NOTE: This appliance is NOT dishwasher safe.

The following table gives the suggested cleaning intervals:

Hard Water (Tap Water) Every 40 Brew Cycle

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Read all safety and usage instructions before using.

  1. Do not use the appliance on wet or hot surfaces, or near a heat source.
  2. To protect against fire, electrical shock or injury, do not immerse the unit, power cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
  3. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use or before cleaning.
  4. To disconnect the appliance, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Do not disconnect by pulling on the cord.
  5. Do not operate the appliance with a damaged power cord or plug. Do not operate the appliance if it malfunctions or is damaged in any way. Return the appliance to an authorized service center for examination and repair.
  6. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
  7. Close supervision is necessary when appliance is being used by or near children.
  8. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not try to modify the plug in any way.
  9. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a counter or table.
  10. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot burner or heated oven.
  11. Extreme caution must be used when moving items containing hot liquids.
  12. Only use fresh and cold water to fill the water tank.
  13. Do not touch the surfaces of the appliance, including the warming plate, as they become very hot. Use the handle when holding the carafe.
  14. This appliance can be used by children 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities- if they have been given instructions concerning the use of the appliance- and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  15. Hot steam is emitted from the coffee filter when the appliance is in use; do not stand over or touch the steam.
  16. Never leave the carafe empty on the warming plate- the carafe is liable to crack.
  17. Do not use the appliance if the carafe appears to be cracked.
  18. Only use accessories or attachments that were provided by the manufacturer for this appliance.
  19. Handle with care as the glass is very fragile.
  20. Do not operate the coffee maker without water in it.
  21. Do not place an empty coffee pot on the hot plate when the coffee maker is running.
