Steering Levers (Item 5)

A. Reverse: Pull both steering levers
backward.
B. Forward: Push both steering levers
forward.
C. To Turn Left: Pull left steering lever
back or push right steering lever
forward or a combination of both.
D. To Turn Right: Pull right steering lever
back or push left steering lever forward
or a combination of both.
Parking Brake (Item 7)
Pull lever up to engage parking
Disengaged
brake and push lever down to
disengage parking brake.
Engaged
PTO Switch (Item 3)
Engages and disengages
attachment. Pull switch to
engage; push switch to
disengage.

FILLING FUEL TANK
1. Clean fuel cap and surrounding area to
prevent dust, dirt, and debris from
entering fuel tank.
2. Remove fuel cap.
IMPORTANT: See Engine Manual for correct
type and grade of fuel.
3. Fill fuel tank to 1/2 in. (1.3 cm) below
bottom of filler neck. See Specifications
on page 24 for fuel tank capacity.
4. Replace fuel cap.

STOPPING IN AN EMERGENCY
Bring steering levers back to neutral.
STARTING AND SHUTTING OFF
ENGINE
Starting Engine
NOTE: PTO must be disengaged and parking
brake engaged prior to starting engine.
1. Set throttle lever to CHOKE for a cold
engine. Set throttle lever at 1/3 throttle for
a warm engine.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT operate starter for
more than 15 seconds per minute as damage
can occur.
2. Turn ignition key to START position and
release once engine has started.
3. After engine starts, set throttle lever to
FAST position.
IMPORTANT: Let engine warm up several
seconds to several minutes depending on
outside temperature.
NOTE: When engine is running, PTO belt is
turning electric clutch on mower deck. The
electric clutch WILL NOT engage mower
blades until PTO switch is engaged.
Shutting Off Engine
1. Stop unit.
2. Disengage PTO.
3. Set throttle lever to SLOW.
4. Set parking brake.
5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and
remove ignition key.
OPERATING MOWER
1. Start engine.
2. Set throttle lever FAST.
3. Engage PTO to start mower blades.
4. Use steering levers to move unit.
5. Disengage PTO to stop mower blades.
