18. TROUBLESHOOTING

Possible malfunctions of the machine are listed below.
If the problem cannot be resolved as described, contact customer services.
Problem
The appliance does not switch on.
The coffee is not hot.
The coffee is weak or not creamy enough.
The coffee emerges too slowly or
drop-by-drop.
Meaning
Descaling has been inter-
rupted. Complete the cycle,
restarting from the step
indicated by the intensity
selection Leds.
Cause
The cord is not plugged into the mains
socket.
The cups were not preheated.
The internal circuits of the appliance have
cooled down because 2-3 minutes have
elapsed since the last coffee was made.
Coffee temperature setting too low.
The machine needs descaling
Coffee ground too coarsely.
Coffee not suitable.
Coffee not fresh.
Coffee ground too finely.

Solution
Plug into the mains socket.
Warm the cups by rinsing them with hot
water (Please note: the hot water function
can be used).
Before making coffee, warm the internal circuits
by pressing and holding the
for a few seconds to run a rinse cycle.
Set a hotter coffee temperature in the set-
tings menu (see "12. Settings menu").
Run the descale procedure. Next, check the
water hardness ("5. Measuring water hard-
ness") and make sure the machine setting
matches the local water supply hardness
("12. Settings menu").
Adjust the grinding level ("8.8 Adjusting
the coffee grinder"). The effect will not be
noticeable until at least 2 coffees have been
made.
Use coffee for espresso machines.
The coffee pack has been opened for too
long and has lost its taste.
Adjust the grinding level ("8.8 Adjusting the
