Heavy Duty Cable – Where conditions allow, heavy-
duty 1 1 / " cable should be used for faster results and

longer cable life. The heavy-duty cables work efficiently
in 4" through 8" straight lines. (Figure 3)
CAUTION
This type cable should not be used in areas where
4" "P" traps or 4" running traps are currently in
use.

Securing Cable – When it is necessary to secure cable
already in line while another cable is being fed in through
machine, loop cable as shown in Figure 4.
NOTE! This procedure is especially helpful when cleaning
a line with quite a bit of fall or when roof conduc-
tors are being cleaned from the top of the building.

Cleaning
Faster Cleaning – Obstructions of grease or fats can be
cleaned faster and more effectively by bending the
cable some 6 or 8 inches behind the cutter. (Figure 4)

Starting Procedure

NOTE! Add leaded or low lead gasoline to fuel tank and
oil to engine crankcase. (See Briggs & Stratten
manual enclosed for type and grade of oil.)
1. Place transmission shift lever in N (neutral) position.
2. Set choke control handle at CHOKE and turn engine
over a few times with pull starter.
3. When Engine "catches" set choke control handle at
RUN and pull throttle control to desired speed.

Operating Machine

WARNING
1. Operator should be thoroughly familiar with
Safety Precautions before attempting to operate
this equipment.
2. Be very careful when cleaning drains where
cleaning compounds have been used. Wear
gloves and safety glasses when handling cable,
and avoid direct contact of the skin and espe-
cially the eyes and facial area as serious burns
can result.
1. Start machine. Refer to starting procedure.
2. To start through a 4" "P" Trap, push cable by hand as
far as it will go. (Figure 5)
CAUTION
Whenever running a cable through traps or el-
bows, be sure there is water running to prevent
cables from heating up.
3. When working at a stoppage, pull enough extra
cable through machine to form almost a hump be-
tween machine and trap.
4. Hold cable loosely in mittened hand (left hand),
shift transmission into 3rd forward gear position.
NOTE! The cable will remain free and idle.
5. With mittened hand, push down on top of hump and
pull clutch handle downward with a definite snap.
The tool will easily pass through trap.
