About the LANs

A local area network (LAN) can generally be defined as a broadcast domain. Hubs,
bridges, or switches in the same physical segment or segments connect all end devices.
Endpoints can communicate with each other without the need for a router such as an
Orbi Pro router. Routers connect LANs together, routing the traffic to the appropriate
port.
The router supports five local area networks (LANs): LAN 1 through LAN 5, each of which
functions with a different default IP address and supports a different DHCP IP address
range.
Each LAN is preset to a VLAN profile. For many network environments, the preset LAN
configurations on the router work fine. If your network requires differents settings, you
can change the LAN settings on the router.
Note: LANs (networks) and LAN ports are two different concepts. By default, all LAN
ports and the WAN port on the router and all LAN ports on any connected satellites are
Ethernet ports in the same physical network segment (LAN 1) and members of VLAN
1. However, you can assign a LAN port to a different VLAN (see Change the VLAN profile
for an Ethernet port on page 83).
