Hardware installation

Installating the LANCOM Router involves the following steps:
Mounting – The device is designed for mounting in an available 19" unit
in a server cabinet. If necessary fix the rubber pads to the underside of the
device to prevent any scratching to other equipment.
LAN – first of all connect your LANCOM Router to the LAN or to an indi-
vidual PC. Plug one end of the supplied network cable (green connectors)
into an Ethernet port on the device µ, and the other end into an available
network connector socket in your local network, a free socket on a switch
or hub, or the networking connector of an indvidual PC.
The Ethernet ports use autosensing to recognize the data rate (10/100/
1000 Mbit) and the type (node/hub) of attached network devices. It is
possible to connect devices of different speeds and types in parallel.
Avoid having multiple unconfigured LANCOMs at once within a single
network segment. Any unconfigured LANCOM takes on the same IP
address (ending in '254'), and so address conflicts could arise. To
avoid problems, multiple LANCOMs should be configured one after
the other with the respective device being assigned with a new and
unique IP address (not ending in '254') each time.
WAN – You can operate up to three Ethernet ports as WAN interfaces. In
the device configuration, set the necessary Ethernet port to "DSL-1" to
"DSL-4" and activate the corresponding DSL interface. Use the supplied
cable (dark-blue connectors) to connect the Ethernet port
net socket on, for example, a DSL modem or cable modem.
ISDN – To connect the LANCOM Router to the ISDN, plug in one end of
the supplied ISDN cable (light-blue connectors) to the ISDN S
