MAINTENANCE
If the brake fluid level falls below the ap-
proved level:
WARNING
Insufficient or contaminated brake fluid
in the brake fluid reservoir
Considerably reduced braking power
caused by air, dirt or water in the brake
system
Stop riding immediately until fault is rec-
tified.
Check brake fluid level regularly.
Make sure that the lid of the brake fluid
reservoir is cleaned before opening.
Make sure that brake fluid is used from
a sealed container only.
Have the defect rectified as quickly as
possible by a specialist workshop, prefer-
ably an authorized BMW Motorrad retailer.
Checking the rear brake fluid level
Hold the vehicle upright, making sure that
the ground is firm and level.
Read out the brake fluid level at the brake
fluid reservoir 1.
The brake fluid level in the brake-fluid
reservoir drops due to brake pad wear.
Rear brake fluid level
Brake fluid, DOT4
The brake fluid level must not fall below
the MIN mark. (Brake fluid reservoir hori-
zontal)
If the brake fluid level falls below the ap-

CLUTCH

Checking clutch function
Pull the clutch lever.
There is a clearly perceptible pressure
point.
