Brake pads
New brake pads must be run in
before they achieve their opti-
mum friction force. This initial
reduction in braking efficiency
can be compensated for by ex-
erting greater pressure on the
brake levers.
New brake pads can extend
stopping distance by a sig-
nificant margin.
Brake early.
Tires
New tires have a smooth sur-
face. This must be roughened by
riding in a restrained manner at
various heel angles until the tires
are run in. This running in proce-

Engine speed warning

The engine speed warning sig-

nals to the rider that the red
engine speed range has been
reached. This signal is shown in
red by the flashing of indicator
lamp 1.
The signal is maintained until the
transmission is upshifted or the
engine speed is reduced. It can
be activated or deactivated by
the rider.
