Filter system start up Once the filter system has been properly assembled, the tank filled with #20 Pool Filter Grade silica sand or Cotton Tails and the hoses connected as described, you may begin filtration. How- ever, we recommend that you first clean and prepare the new sand. Cleaning the sand prior to filtering your pool will remove most of the dust and tiny sand particles that may exist in the sand.
