    5. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. The filter pump is self-priming as long as it is positioned at least 7 to 8 inches below the highest water level of the lower hose connection. An air relief valve is located on the top of the pump. Turn the valve knob counter-clockwise, allowing air to escape from the tank.
