7890 Series GC Installation Checklist

System checkout

Locate the inlet/detector checkout method. (Operation Manual).
Install the syringe in the Auto-sampler and configure as required. (ALS User Manual)
Transfer the Agilent checkout sample for the detector being tested into a screw cap vial or other
sampler vial.
Load solvent and waste vials into the Auto-sampler turret. (ALS User Manual)
Use the Agilent Data System, Instrument Utilities, or GC Keyboard to enter the checkout conditions.
Save the "Checkout Method"
Create and Save a "Maintenance Method" (Maintaining Your GC Manual)
Create and Save a System "Bakeout Method" - Bakeout the entire system for 15 minutes
- Split Vent flow > 100 ml/min
- Inlet/Detector 20-50 degrees above the Checkout Method Temps,
- Oven 20-50 degrees hotter than Method Final Temp
Reload the "Checkout Method"
When the temperatures and detector output is stable, perform one injection of checkout sample.
Compare the resulting chromatogram with the typical results documented in the 7890 "Operation
Manual".
Repeat for other Inlet/Detector Combination(s)
Review the results with the customer.
Service Review
Attach available chromatogram/reports/printouts to this documentation.
Record the time/date of installation or upgrade completion in the customer's records/logbook.
Complete the Service Review Comments section below if there are additional comments.
Review the installation/upgrade with the customer.
Explain Agilent warranty for instruments.
Explain how to use manuals, guides, online help.
Explain how to get self-help, FAQs from the web.
Explain how to log an instrument service call, support services available.
Advise the customer of additional instrument training options.
If the Instrument firmware was updated, record the details of the change in the Service Engineer's
Comments box below or if necessary, in the customer's IQ records.
