Simrad TP90 TP90 Catch Monitoring Positioning Transceiver The Simrad TP90 Catch Monitoring Positioning Transceiver is an optional part of the Simrad TV80 catch monitoring system. By means of this transceiver, the TV80 can provide information about the relative position of the ITI and PxPos sensors placed on the trawl.
Simrad TP90 System diagram The system diagram presents a TV80 system with a TP90 transceiver. A basic system consists of a TV80 system, the transceiver, one single-split beam transducer, and a computer. The TV80 software controls the operation of the system.

Simrad TP90 Installation Manual Installing the TP90 using its mounting brackets The transceiver can be installed vertically or horizontally using the integrated mounting brackets. Prerequisites A suitable location for the TP90 must be defined prior to installation. The unit can in principle be mounted anywhere on board the ship provided that the location is dry and ventilated.

Cable layout and interconnections Cable plan The cables are used to connect the TP90 transceiver to the computer, the Power Supply Unit and the transducer(s). Display Processor Unit TP90 Transceiver Unit Transducer Power Supply Unit Cables identified with an asterisk (*) are system or commercial cables. These cables are provided in the delivery or with the relevant item.
Simrad TP90 Installation Manual List of cables A set of cables is required to connect the system units to each other, and to the relevant power source(s). Additional cables are required to connect the TP90 system to peripheral devices. Cable numbers not shown are not relevant for the purpose of this manual.
Cable layout and interconnections Connecting the transducer Connecting the transducer(s) to the correct inputs is critical for the correct functioning of the sensor positioning. Prerequisites You must be equipped with a standard set of tools. This tool set must comprise the normal tools for electronic and electromechanical tasks.

Simrad TP90 Installation Manual Note If you connect just one transducer for Trawl Positioning (TP), you must mount one cable gland on the left cable entry and three blind plugs on the other cable entries on the transceiver connector panel. The TP90 delivery includes 2 cable glands and 3 blind plugs.

Simrad TP90 Installation Manual Installing the Power Supply Unit The transceiver requires an external power supply offering 12 to 15 Vdc, minimum 5 A. A suitable power supply is provided with the delivery. Prerequisites A suitable location for the power supply must be defined prior to installation. If you place the unit on the bridge, observe the compass safe distance.

Cable layout and interconnections Make sure that adequate ventilation is available to avoid overheating. Make sure that the installation method allows for the physical vibration, movements and forces normally experienced on a vessel. Note To allow future maintenance, you must mount the unit with its cables and connectors available for easy access.

Setting up the transceiver Result The transceiver receives trawl positioning information from the PxPos sensors and sends information in ITI NMEA format. You can check the entering measurements by clicking on the TP90 icon information circle in the TP90 block diagram under group.
