BEFORE USE

Instructions for use

  • Remove all packaging and stickers from your waffle maker and wipe the housing and plates with a damp cloth to remove any dust or residue remaining from manufacturing.
  • We recommend seasoning the non-stick plates with cooking spray or oil before use. For best results, it is suggested to repeat this process at the start of each use.

ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY

  1. Open the lid of the waffle maker by depressing the release latch located on the underside of the handle and lifting up.
  2. To remove waffle plates
    1. Be sure plates are completely cool.
    2. Press the upper plate release button (located on the left side of the lid above the indicator lights) with one hand, while removing the plate with the other hand.
    3. Repeat the process with the lower plates (release button located on the left bottom housing).
  3. To replace waffle plates
    1. Insert the waffle plate tabs into the unit and press down. You will hear the plates click into place.

The appliance might generate a slight odor or smoke the first time it is used; this is normal.

OPERATION

  1. Make sure the plates are in place and the selector knob is turned to the MIN position. Plug in the waffle maker.
  2. Turn on the heater and begin preheating by selecting the desired setting with the Selector Knob (Setting 1 will result in the lightest waffle; setting 5 the darkest). Pre-heat the waffle maker in the closed position.
    1. The red ON indicator will "light up" to indicate that the waffle maker is on and heating.
warning NOTE: The Removable Plates have a non-stick cooking surface that may emit a slight odor during first use. This is normal and commonly occurs with non-stick coatings.
  3. When the waffle maker has reached the selected temperature and is ready to use, the green READY indicator will "light up" and the audible tone will sound.
    1. Lift the lid and add batter. Then close the lid again to cook.
warning NOTE: There will be some steam during cooking. This is normal and expected.
  4. When your waffles are ready, the audible tone will sound and the READY indicator will "light up" again.
    1. Carefully remove your waffles and enjoy.
    2. If making more than one batch of waffles, once your first batch is removed – repeat the baking process by adding more batter (step 3a).
  5. To turn off your waffle maker at any time, turn the selector knob to the MIN position and unplug the appliance.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

  1. When you are finished cooking, turn the temperature knob to MIN and unplug the power cord. Allow the unit to cool down completely before handling.
  2. Press the plate release buttons to remove plates from the housing. Be sure that the plates have cooled completely before handling.
    1. We recommend cleaning the plates after every use. The plate should be washed in warm soapy water or in a dishwasher. Failing to do so may negatively impact the non-stick coating performance. Never use an abrasive cleanser or harsh pad on the non-stick coating.
  3. To clean exterior, wipe with a soft dry cloth.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problems Possible solutions
No indicator light on. Check the connection to the wall socket.
If the problem persists, try connecting the unit to a different outlet.
The ready indicator light is off. The ready indicator light switches on when the appliance reaches the selected temperature, this can take 6 to 10 minutes.
Check that there are no obstructions when you close the unit.
Waffles are sticking to the plates. Be sure to use an oil or non-stick spray before making waffles.
Make sure you clean your plates after making waffles. Failing to clean your plates can negatively impact the non-stick coating.
The waffles are not cooked properly.

Ensure that the ready indicator light is on when you add the batter.
Once the batter is in the waffle maker, cook the waffles for 3 to 8 minutes, avoid opening the waffle maker too often because the heat escapes every time you open the appliance and this increases cooking time.

Put the browning selector on the maximum position (position 5) if this is not already the case.

The waffles are poorly shaped or do not rise. Check that you have added enough batter in the baking compartments (fig 10).
It could be a problem with your recipe. In this case, please use the recipe above.
The batter overflows from the sides of heating plates. Pour the batter into each baking compartment using a ladle. The batter in the baking compartments should be spread uniformly starting from the center of the heating plates. To avoid overflow, adjust the amount of batter according to your recipe.

Is your appliance still not working? Please contact an authorized service center (see the list in the service booklet).
