Checking gaiter
Park motorcycle, ensuring that
support surface is firm and
level.
Check gaiter 1 is sitting cor-
rectly and is free from cracks.
If the gaiter has loosened or
cracks are forming:
Have gaiter checked by a spe-
cialist workshop, preferably by
an authorized BMW Motorrad
Retailer.
Check air filter element
and replace if necessary
Removing the Rallye seat

Open lid 1 of storage compart-
ment.
Remove screws 2, 3 and 4.
Take off tank cover.
Remove screws 1.
Take off air filter housing lid.
Remove frame 1.
Remove air filter element 2.
