RE: DoorKing Residential Gate Model 4302-311 quit working - Contracted with Automated Gate Services and the tech reset it, replaced 2 back-up batteries, made adjustments on the arm. It will work a few times open and close, but then quits working at random. I can reset it on the computer board - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The tech has "serviced" the gate over 10 times and $500 to no avail! He has given up! Please help!

Common troubleshooting steps for a DoorKing Residential Gate Model 4302-311 that intermittently stops working after being serviced include:

1. Check Keying Devices: Disconnect keying devices one at a time to see if the LED goes off. This helps identify if a device is causing the issue.

2. Inspect External Entrapment Devices: Look for shorts or malfunctions in external entrapment protection devices.

3. Test Loop Detectors: Pull loop detector circuit boards from the loop ports. If the issue continues, the problem is not with the loop system.

4. Check Control Wires: Ensure there are no shorted or open wires from keying devices to the gate operator.

5. Bypass Keying Device: Momentarily jumper terminals 1 and 2 on the control board. If the gate operates, the keying device may be faulty.

6. Inspect for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions along the gate path that could trigger the entrapment sensing system.

7. Check for Hard Shutdown: If the alarm is sounding or chirping every 5 seconds, reset the operator using the reset button or by turning the power off and on.

8. Check Gate and Hardware: Inspect for malfunctions before returning the gate to service.
