APPENDIX A: Super DLTtape I Data Cartridge
Move the write-protect switch to the left to enable write protection (existing
data on the tape cannot be overwritten, nor can additional data be appended to
the media).
When the write-protect switch is moved to the left, a small orange rectangle is
visible. This is your visual reminder that data cannot be written to the tape.
Move the write-protect switch to the right to disable write protection (existing
data on the tape can be overwritten, and additional data can be appended to the
media unless the cartridge is write-protected via firmware). When write-
protection is disabled, no orange rectangle is visible.
When a data cartridge is loaded in the drive and the data cartridge's write-protect
switch is in its write-protected position (refer to
turns on its write-protect indicator LED immediately (on the other hand, an SDLT
320 does not illuminate any front panel LED, because that LED has been assigned
to a different drive feature; refer to
