Page 131
Chapter 6 6-18 EMERGENCIES AIRBAGS cont. The system should also be inspected by a Holden Dealer if the dashboard area or steering wheel is scratched, cracked or damaged, or if the front seats are damaged. Extensive design and testing has gone into the Holden airbag system. However, it should be treated with respect.

Chapter 7 WEEKLY CHECKS MISCELLANEOUS CHECKS As well as taking the vehicle to be serviced (refer to the service booklet in the vehicle's glove box) there are a few, simple, weekly checks that the owner I operator is recommended to make. These are shown on the following pages. WARNING: If the engine temperature is high, the cooling fan may remain on for several minutes after turning off the ignition.
Page 144
Their use increases costs, may be detrimental to the operation of the vehicle and may void the New Vehicle Warranty, to the extent that Holden considers the non-recommended fluid to have affected the specifications or quality of the vehicle.
Page 145
If, after taking into account the above factors, you are still concerned that your engine has excessive oil consumption then consult your Holden Dealer. Remember that an engine's oil consumption should not be judged until it has run at least 10 000 km.
Page 146
To add coolant Refer to Chapter 8 for engine coolant specifications and water-to-coolant ratio. Mix a solution of Holden coolant and clean fresh water in a container as per the ratio specified. Note: Failure to use the coolant or maintain the specified concentration may result in voiding the New Vehicle Warranty.
Page 147
Chapter 7 WEEKLY CHECKS ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL cont. The specified coolant works in three ways: It contains special corrosion inhibitors. It helps the cooling system in hot weather by increasing the boiling point. It protects against freezing down to -3rC, provided the specified concentration is maintained.
Page 148
Remember to always replace the dipstick and lock the handle down. If the transmission fluid requires constant topping up, it could indicate that there is a leak or a fault. Contact your Holden Dealer. Note: The cold markings on the dipstick should only be used as an indication when initially filling the transmission after the fluid has been completely drained.
Page 149
As washer fluid is constantly used, top up the level weekly. For a crystal clear windscreen, the correct amount of Holden washer fluid additive can be added. Refer to Chapter 11, Cleaning. Note: Do not use ordinary soap or detergent as these not only froth up but also damage the wiper rubbers.
Page 150
