How to optimize ink for 2D Barcodes – Code shaving
In cases where it is desired to make 2D codes more readable because of ink bleed etc., the TIJ
printer offers control over the amount of ink used for each module square when printing 2D
Barcodes, Datamatrix and QR.
This function is called CODE SHAVING and is a property for each 2D code. To enable the feature,
please follow these steps:
1. Go to the Message Editor and create or edit a message.
2. Add/edit a QR Code or Datamatrix code.
3. With the 2D Barcode selected, enable the "Shaving mode" and configure the Shaving
value [%]. Ink's consumption will be lower as the "Shaving value [%]" increases.
NOTE: Print speed, print resolution and shaving value will need to be adjusted to achieve the
desired 2D Barcode readability.
