Preparing for Mounting

Important safety rules
There are important rules to be observed when integrating an S7-400 with an FM 450-1 into a
plant or a system.
These rules and regulations are explained in manual /1/.
Defining the slots
The FM 450-1 function module can be installed like a signal module in any central device or
extension device.
Designing the mechanical structure
Manual /1/ provides you with information on how the mechanical structure can be designed and
how to proceed.
Define start address
The start address of the FM 450-1 is required for the purpose of communication between the
CPU and the FM 450-1. The start address is entered into the DB of the FC CNT_CTRL (refer to
chapter "Program (Page 39)" and chapter "Assignment of the DB (Page 87)"). The entry is
either made with the program editor or out of the user program.
You specify the start address for the module under STEP 7.
