Back Button Focus

Back button focus takes some adjustment to get used to but can be
very valuable in a variety of shooting scenarios.
Focus / Release
Use the camera's custom settings menu to set
Shutter > AF/AE Lock
to " A F-ON," which initiates autofocus. Then set
Focus / Release Shutter > Shutter AF
to "OFF."
The AF/AE Lock button is conveniently accessed by a thumb lever on
t h e s i d e o f t h e h o u s i n g . I n s t e a d o f h a l f - p r e s s i n g t h e s h u t t e r t o o b t a i n
focus and lock focus, press the AF/AE Lock button.

a manual focus gear . Press AF/AE Lock to lock focus at the minimum
f o c u s i n g d i s t a n c e o f y o u r l e n s . T h e n m o v e s l i g h t l y i n o r o u t u n t i l t h e
subject is in focus.
