    Connecting the Power Cord The power for the Expression IM integration module is provided by a single power cord. Connect the supplied IEC country-specific power cord to the main power input and plug the pronged end into an appropriate wall outlet. The IEC country-specific power cord is located in the power kit.

    Windows operating system): Connect the SMART Board DB9 serial connector from the Expression IM integration module to a serial port on your computer as explained on pages 6−7. Insert the SMART Board software CD into your CD-ROM drive. The SMART Board software setup program should start automatically.
  • Page 21 Connect the long DB9 end of the serial cable to the DB9 connector in the SMART Board section of the Connection Panel. Insert the male end of the keyboard adapter into the power outlet in the SMART Board section of the Connection Panel. Finally, insert the keyboard adapter’s power plug into the power plug socket on the back of the long DB9 connector.
  • Page 22 Connect the long DB9 end of the serial cable to the DB9 connector in the SMART Board section of the Connection Panel. Insert the male end of the keyboard adapter into the power outlet in the SMART Board section of the Connection Panel. Finally, insert the keyboard adapter’s power plug into the power plug socket on the back of the long DB9 connector.
  • Page 23 Turn on your Macintosh computer. The Ready Light on the SMART Pen Tray will turn red, indicating that it is receiving power from the keyboard port or external power supply. Ready Light Insert the SMART Board software CD into your CD-ROM drive. The CD will automatically launch the installation program.
  • Page 24 Follow the on-screen instructions. Once you’ve completed SMART Board software installation, the SMART Board icon will appear in the menu bar and the Ready Light on the Pen Tray will turn from red to green. The green light indicates that the interactive whiteboard is now touch sensitive.

    Before you turn off the Expression IM integration module via the Main Power switch, shut down the computer and let the projector cool down.

    To connect a guest laptop, turn the laptop off, make the connections explained on the previous page and turn the laptop back on. Then either install the full SMART Board software or run the Mini-Board driver (Windows operating system only) as explained on pages 21−23.

    (Refer to page 19.) If you want to save information on the laptop, you must install the full version of SMART Board software. This option gives you access to all SMART Board software features, but it requires approximately 8.6 MB of disk space.
  • Page 28 To copy the SMART Board software installation files onto floppy disks: If your laptop doesn’t have a CD-ROM drive, use the internal computer to copy the SMART Board software installation files onto floppy disks. Insert the SMART Board software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the internal computer.
  • Page 29 To create a Mini-Board driver disk from the SMART Board software CD: Insert the SMART Board software CD into the internal computer’s CD-ROM drive. The SMART Board software CD interface will appear. Click the Exit button, as you won’t be installing the software.

    Tips and Laptop Troubleshooting General Tips • Before you turn off the Expression IM integration module via the Main Power switch, shut down the computer and let the projector cool down. • Once the projector is installed and running, you can use its remote control to put it into standby mode before turning off the Expression IM integration module.
  • Page 31 Click the Connect button under Serial Ports in the Boards tab. Then under Automatic, click the Detect SMART Hardware button. Your ports will be searched for the presence of an attached SMART Board interactive whiteboard until the correct port is located.
