1.8.1 Quality, environment, safety and occupational health policy

alternatives, aimed at worker Health and Safety and preservation of the Environment.
1.8.1.1 Main guidelines
AGCO South America is committed to developing, producing and marketing products intended to meet the
mechanization needs of the world agricultural industry taking into consideration:
1.
Obtaining the profitability necessary to support the business.
2.
The satisfaction of its customers.
3.
Adopting practices to prevent pollution, reduce consumption of natural resources and prevent the
occurrence of injuries and occupational diseases.
4.
Complying with applicable legal requirements and other agreed requirements.
5.
Managing the organization in pursuit of ongoing improvement of the effectiveness of its Quality,
Environmental, Safety and Health Management System for workers.
How to achieve these objectives?
Commit to the partnership between the company and the environment to ensure it continues into the
future. With its belief in the above, MASSEY FERGUSON has laid out its Environmental Policy and the
implementations for its achievement, through the deployment of an Environmental Management system
and a Cleaner Production Program.
1.8.1.2 ISO 14000
ISO 14000 is a set of Standards defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to
standardise environmental management. The ISO 14000 series is made up of six groups of Standards,
each covering a specific subject of the environmental issue. Standard 14001 is applicable for MASSEY
FERGUSON, which deals with environmental management systems.
1.8.1.3 Environmental Management System
The Environmental Management System (EMS) is a set of procedures for managing and running a
company in order to obtain the best relationship with the environment.
This system aims to fully analyse the company's activities, products and services in terms of how they
influence the environment and to make an ongoing commitment to environmental quality.
1.8.1.4 Environmental issues
Greenhouse effect
The earth's rise in temperature is due to the accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO) and methane (CH
atmosphere. The excess of carbon dioxide gas is produced through industrial processes, consumption of
fossil fuels and fires. "High levels of global warming could melt the polar ice caps and cause floods".
Ozone layer depletion
Ozone (O
) acts as a solar filter in layers of the upper atmosphere, protecting us from the effects of

harmful rays. Some gases, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), used in the refrigeration industry, destroy
the ozone, causing a "hole" in the ozone layer. "It is estimated that this causes 100,000 cases of skin cancer
worldwide each year".
