Installing memory

Memory installation guidelines are as follows:
Use registered and unbuffered DDR3 ECC DIMM.
Install DIMMs in identical pairs for best performance.
A single DIMM can be installed in DIMM slot 2A.

To access DIMM slots, remove the air baffle as shown in Figure 5.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to DIMMs, use an
 
antistatic wrist strap and grounding mat, and discharge
static electricity before touching DIMMs.
If a DIMM does not fit completely or easily into the socket, remove
the DIMM, reverse the orientation, and then reinsert it.

Installing a processor

For a two-processor system, both processors must be of the same
type. To access the processor sockets, remove the air baffle as
shown previously.
CAUTION: Failure to completely open the processor
 
locking lever prevents the processor from seating during
installation, leading to hardware damage.
1.
Open the processor locking lever and the bracket. Do not
remove the processor socket cover.

IMPORTANT:
Be sure the processor remains inside the
processor installation tool.
2.
If the processor has separated from the installation tool,
carefully reinsert the processor in the tool. Handle the
processor by the edges only, and do not touch the bottom of
the processor, especially the contact area.
