Alcatel D285 VOICE - Cordless Phone Start Up Guide

BEFORE 1st USE

Connecting your phone:

  • Connect plugs in corresponding sockets in the base station. Plug the telephone line into telephone socket and insert power plug in an electrical outlet.
  • Insert batteries in Handset
    Before you start to use your telephone, charge batteries continuously for 15 hours.
    warningonly use plug adapter supplied with the unit and rechargeable batteries with your phone.

  3. Direct access key to listen new voice messages - when "NEW MSG" is shown and flashing. (during a call, press once to access to operator services*)
  4. Star key - To lock / unlock keypad by long pressing key.
  5. Talk key / Loudspeaker key
  6. Press to play the message.
    Press again to stop the message playback.
    Flashing LED for unread messages.
  7. Press once to delete the message during playback. Press and hold to delete all messages.
    Note: New voice messages will not be deleted.
  8. Paging key - To locate handset / to start registration procedure. When multiple handsets are delivered, they are pre-registered on the base station. Handset registration is only necessary when you buy extra handsets or if a handset has become faulty.

Display icons

Indicates battery is fully charged.
Indicates battery is fully discharged.
Indicates that an external call is connected or held. Icon blinks when receiving an incoming call.
Indicates you have a new voice mail message*.
Displays during browsing call log answered incoming call item.
Displays during browsing redial list.
Blinks when you have new missed calls*. Steadily on during browsing call log which has missed calls that have been read.
Displays when the alarm clock is activated. (After alarm is finished, to turn off Alarm function by /or select CLOCK / ALARM / / SET ALARM / / or select OFF / )
Displays when handsfree is activated.
Indicate when the telephone answering machine (TAM) is turned on. Flash when new TAM messages are received.
Displays when ringer volume is turned off.
Indicates that the handset is registered and within range of the base station. Icon blinks when the handset is out of range or is searching for a base. If E appears on top of the icon, it means ECO mode is ON.
Indicates when user enters the menu.
Indicates the keypad is locked.
Indicates during browsing phonebook.

*Subject to subscription and availability of the service from the fixed line operator.

Set language and flashtime to operate correctly on your network:

Using the phone

Receive and end a call

Make a call

  • either before or after dialing your number
  • From redial list: / or /.
  • From call log list*: / or /.
    Note: You need to subscribe to Caller Line Identification service to be able to see the caller's number or name in the call log.
  • From direct memories: long press on KEY 1 or KEY 2 in idle mode.
  • From phonebook: / or /.
  • During a call, to activate/dsactivate handsfree: .

To make an internal call

  • If only 2 registered handsets: .
  • If more than 2 registered handsets: / enter the handset number.

To make a three-party conference call:
During call:

  • Long press / or / select handset number / .
  • Press on the called handset to answer.
  • Long press on the calling handset to establish conference call.

Phonebook settings: 50 entries
To register in phonebook

/ or to select PHONEBOOK // or / select ADD NEW // enter name of contact // enter number of contact // SAVED.

To register the direct memories in keys 1, 2
/ or select PHONEBOOK // or select EDIT // or select 1_ or 2_ // enter name of contact // enter number of contact // SAVED.

General settings
Long press in idle mode, switch display to show either date/time or Handset name. This phone can be customized according to your preferences, to access the different possibilities press: .

Record a personalised outgoing message

Playback and delete messages

  • NEW MSG(S) displays, press to start playback.
  • During message playback you can press to DELETE the current message.

Set ring delay

  • / or to select ANSW MACHINE // or to select RING DELAY / or to select 3 - 8 RINGS or TOLL SAVER/.

To check messages remotely

  • Dial your home phone number / while the answering machine playing greeting message and enter remote access code (master PIN code 0000).

The remote feature lets you perform the following functions:

Set the OGM voice language

TROUBLESHOOTING

As a general rule, if a problem occurs, remove the batteries from all handsets for about 1 minute, then disconnect and reconnect the power supply to the base and reinstall the handset batteries. For more information, you can download full user guide or get on-line assistance www.alcatel-home.com

This telephone is not designed for Emergency calls when the main power fails.
Do not use your telephone to notify a gas leak or other potential explosion hazard.
Do not open your device or its power supply to avoid risk of electrical shock. Do not attempt to open the batteries, as they contain hazardous chemical substances.
Your telephone must be located in a dry place away from hot, humide and direct sunlight condition. To avoid radio signal interference, place the phone at least 1 meter away from other electrical appliances or other phones.
