5 PIPETTE OPERATION
5.1 PIPETTING GUIDELINES
Check the p cone to make sure it is clean.
While using the pipe e make sure that opera ng plunger is
handled slowly and smoothly.
Ensure that the p is firmly a ached on the p cone. Please
check for foreign par cles and remove if any, around the p
cone.
Make sure that the temperature of p, pipe e and liquid are at
equilibrium.
While aspira ng, hold the pipe e in upright posi on and keep
the ps at a constant depth below the surface of the liquid.
Pre-rinse the pipe e p before aspira ng the sample by
filling and emptying the pipe e p five (5) mes. This is
important when dispensing samples that have a viscosity and
density different from water and for vola le solvents.
Do not pre-rinse the
temperatures different from the current ambient
temperature. Be sure to change the pipe e p a er each
pipe ng.
For the vola le solvents you should saturate the air-cushion of
your pipe e by aspira ng and dispensing the solvent
repeatedly before aspira ng the sample.
When pipe ng liquids with temperature different to the
ambient temperature, pre-rinse ps p several mes before
use.
