138271 HYBRID VEHICLES The Eurocargo Hybrid vehicle exploits two energy sources for vehicle traction with the priority being that of improving global effi- ciency. Operation is based on a parallel type hybrid system (PHEV) which combines the benefits of a diesel heat engine with those of an electric motor-generator with the objective of reducing consumption, increasing power, guaranteeing good handling and above all limiting gas emissions which damage the environment.
Page 14
Rescue Guide Medium Range ‒ Technical information TECHNICAL INFORMATION HYBRID VEHICLES Figure 6 161303 ● "Hybrid" mode: parallel type hybrid architecture allows the requested power to be supplied to the wheels combining contribu- tions provided by the electric motor and the heat engine (torque split). Furthermore, when vehicle power increases temporarily and the contribution provided by the engine is insufficient, the elec- tric motor supplies the missing power (booster).
