    First-time Operation Connect your computer to a power outlet. The battery charging starts automatically. CAUTION Do not disconnect the AC adaptor and do not switch the wireless switch to on until the first-time operation procedure is completed. When using the computer for the first time, do not connect any peripheral device except the battery pack and AC adaptor.
  • Page 15 You can change the user name, password, image and security setting after setup of Windows. Remember your password. If you forget the password, you cannot use the Win- dows. Creating a password reset disk beforehand is recommended. When you set date/time/time zone and click [Next], the screen may not go to the next step for a few minutes.
  • Page 16 First-time Operation NOTE PC Information Viewer This computer periodically records the management information of the hard disk, etc. The maximum data volume for each record is 1024 bytes. This information is only used for estimating the cause when the hard disk goes down by any possibility.

    Click on the notification area and click • When changing to [Panasonic Power management (Better Heat Dispersion)], the following settings will change. - Change to [High Speed] from [Standard] in [Fan control mode]. Rotation of the cooling fan speeds fast and the computer can be cooled down. Note that the battery operating time will be shorter.

  • Page 22 Handling and Maintenance If You Spill Water on the Keyboard Note that repairs resulting from liquids being spilled on the computer are not free of charge, and not covered by war- ranty. The keyboard on this computer incorporate a drain system (a moisture protection mechanism) that minimizes the amount of liquid reaching the inside of the computer even if water is spilled on the keyboard.

    At the confirmation message, select [Yes] and press Enter. The computer will restart. Press while [Panasonic] boot screen is displayed. The Setup Utility starts up. If the password is requested, enter the Supervisor Password. Set the Product Recovery DVD-ROM into the CD/DVD drive.
  • Page 24 Reinstalling Software At the confirmation message, click [YES]. Reinstallation starts automatically. (It will take approximately 30 minutes.) Do not interrupt reinstallation, for example by turning off the computer. Otherwise reinstallation may become unavailable as Windows may not start up or the data may be corrupted. Remove the Product Recovery DVD-ROM, and then click [OK] to turn off the computer, then remove the CD/DVD drive.
