Working with the tool

CAUTION:
Keep all parts of the body away
from the saw chain when the tool is operating.
CAUTION:
Hold the tool firmly with both
hands when the tool is operating.
CAUTION:
Do not overreach. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times.
NOTICE:
Never toss or drop the tool.
NOTICE:
Do not cover the vents of the tool.

b r a n c h .

the root of guide bar and the support part of tool

MAINTENANCE

CAUTION:
Always be sure that the tool is
switched o and the battery cartridge is removed
before attempting to perform inspection or
maintenance.
CAUTION:
Always wear gloves when perform-
ing any inspection or maintenance.
NOTICE:
Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,
alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation or
cracks may result.

Sharpening the saw chain

Sharpen the saw chain when:
M e a l y s a w d u s t i s p r o d u c e d w h e n d a m p w o o d i s
c u t ;
The chain penetrates the wood with di culty, even
w h e n h e a v y p r e s s u r e i s a p p l i e d ;
T h e c u t t i n g e d g e i s o b v i o u s l y d a m a g e d ;
T h e s a w p u l l s t o t h e l e f t o r r i g h t i n t h e w o o d .

S h a r p e n t h e s a w c h a i n f r e q u e n t l y b u t a l i t t l e e a c h t i m e .
Two or three strokes with a file are usually su cient for
r o u t i n e r e s h a r p e n i n g . W h e n t h e s a w c h a i n h a s b e e n
r e s h a r p e n e d s e v e r a l t i m e s , h a v e i t s h a r p e n e d i n o u r
a u t h o r i z e d s e r v i c e c e n t e r .
Sharpening criteria:
WARNING:
the cutting edge and depth gauge increases the
risk of kickback.

All cutter length must be equal. Different cutter

t o r u n r o u g h l y a n d u n e v e n l y , a c c e l e r a t e w e a r , a n d

Use a suitable round file so that the proper sharp-
e n i n g a n g l e i s k e p t a g a i n s t t h e t e e t h .

File and file guiding
Use a special round file (optional accessory) for
s a w c h a i n s t o s h a r p e n t h e c h a i n . N o r m a l r o u n d
files are not suitable.
Diameter of the round file for each saw chain is as follows:
C h a i n b l a d e 80 T X L : 4 .0 m m
The file should only engage the cutter on the for-
ward stroke. Lift the file off the cutter on the return
s t r o k e .
Sharpen the shortest cutter first. Then the length
o f t h i s s h o r t e s t c u t t e r b e c o m e s t h e s t a n d a r d f o r a l l
o t h e r c u t t e r s o n t h e s a w c h a i n .
Guide the file as shown in the figure.

The file can be guided more easily if a file holder
(optional accessory) is employed. The file holder has
m a r k i n g s f o r t h e c o r r e c t s h a r p e n i n g a n g l e o f 30° ( a l i g n
t h e m a r k i n g s p a r a l l e l t o t h e s a w c h a i n ) a n d l i m i t s t h e
depth of penetration (to /5 of the file diameter).
