Storing Your Honda

Preparation for Storage

Refer to Safety Precautions on page 137.
1. Change the engine oil and filters (page 168).
2. Make sure the cooling system is filled with a 50/50% antifreeze
solution (page 184).
3. Fill the fuel tank. Make sure the fuel fill cap is properly installed.
4. To prevent rusting in the cylinder, perform the following:
• Remove the air cleaner outer cover (page 154), and disconnect
the spark plug caps from the spark plugs (page 199).
• Remove the spark plugs (page 199).
Do not connect the spark plugs to the spark plug caps.
• Pour a tablespoon (15 – 20 cc) of clean engine oil into the
cylinder and cover the spark plug holes with a piece of cloth.
• Turn the ignition switch to the START (p) position and crank
the engine several times to distribute the oil.
• Reinstall the spark plugs, spark plug caps, and air cleaner outer
cover.
