Speaker setup
Setting the delay time
In the procedure below, select the values which approximate the
actual distances.
This operation consists of entering the time error between output of
sound from each speaker type (front, center and surround) and
arrival at the listening position. The user should measure the
distance from the listening position to each speaker type and obtain
the time error (delay time) based on the appropriate table.
Assume that the distance from the listening position to the left/right
front speakers is (L).
Assume that the distance from the listening position to the center
speaker is (L
).

Assume that the distance from the listening position to the surround
speakers is (L
).

Setting the center delay
Calculate the difference between (L) and (L
value to it from the table below and obtain the center delay time.
For example, when (L) is 16 feet (5 meters) and (L
meters),
(L) – (L
) = 16 – 13 = 3 feet / 5 – 4 = 1 meter
1
Since the closest value to 3 feet (1 meter) in the table below is
3/0.9 (ft/m), the center delay time to be set is 3.
1. Press SPEAKER ADJUST repeatedly until
"CenterDelay" is displayed.
2. Press PRESET/ADJUST ™/£ repeatedly to
select the center delay value.
It can be selected from 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 ms.
Setting the surround delay
Calculate the difference between (L) and (L
value to it from the table below and obtain the surround delay time.
For example, when (L) is 16 feet (5 meters) and (L
(2 meters),
(L) – (L
) = 16 – 6 = 10 feet / 5 – 2 = 3 meters
2
Since the value of 10 feet (3 meters) is found in the 11th line in the
table below, the surround delay time to be set is 10.
1. Press SPEAKER ADJUST repeatedly until "Surr
Delay" is displayed.
2. Press PRESET/ADJUST ™/£ repeatedly to
select the surround delay value.
It can be selected from 0 to 15 ms.
