The Audio Adjust functions are explained below.
■ Double Bass
The Double Bass function boosts the bass by feeding
bass sounds from the front left and right channels to the
subwoofer. To use this function, in the Speaker Configu-
ration, the Subwoofer setting must be set to Yes and the
Front setting must be set to Large (see page 50).
The Double Bass function works well with mono and 2-
channel sources, including 96 kHz PCM.
On: Double Bass function on.
Front left and right bass also goes to the sub-
woofer simultaneously.
Off: Double Bass function off.
This setting is preferred by THX but to decide
which setting is best for your room, once you have
positioned all of your speakers, choose the option
which gives you the most solid sounding bass.
■ Late Night (Dolby Digital only)
With this function you can reduce the dynamic range of
Dolby Digital material so that you can still hear quiet
parts even when listening at low volume levels—ideal
for watching movies late at night when you don't want to
disturb anyone.
Off:
Late Night function off.
Low: Small reduction in dynamic range.
High: Big reduction in dynamic range.
Note that the effect of the Late Night function depends
on the Dolby Digital material that you are playing, and
with some material there will be little or no effect.
This function is turned off when the HT-R820THX is set
to Standby.
Tip: You can also set this function by using the remote
controller's [L NIGHT] button.
■ Re-EQ
With the Re-EQ function you can correct a soundtrack
whose high-frequency content is too harsh, making it
more suitable for home theater viewing.
This function can be used with the following listening
modes: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro
Logic IIx Movie, DTS, DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6 Cinema,
and DTS 96/24.
Tip:
• You can also set this function by using the remote con-
troller's [Re-EQ] button.
Note:
• When the listening mode is not THX, the default set-
ting is Off.
■ LFE Level (Dolby Digital or DTS)
With this setting you can adjust the level of the LFE
(Low Frequency Effects) channel for Dolby Digital or
DTS sources to – ∞ , –10, or 0 dB.
It can be set only when a Dolby Digital or DTS signal is
being input.
If you find that the low-frequency effects are too loud
when playing Dolby Digital or DTS sources, set this to
–10 or – ∞ dB.
