• AST – Alternative Site Testing
A clear cap is available when
you purchase a PRODIGY
Meter Kit or a PRODIGY
Lancing Device, it makes it
easier for you to get a drop of
blood for AST. When you want
to obtain blood from sites other
than the fingertip, replace the
clear cap instead of the lancing
device cap. Screw the clear cap
until it is snug but not too tight,
and then go to step 2.
Step 2 – Cock the Lancing
Device
Slide the ejection/cocking
control back until it clicks. If it
does not click, the Lancing
Device may have been cocked
when the lancet was inserted.
Step 3 – Wash Your Hands
and the Puncture Site
Use warm, soapy water. Rinse
and dry thoroughly.
Step 4 – Select and Lance a
Puncture Site
• Fingertip
Hold the Lancing Device firmly
against the side of your finger.
Press the release button. You
will hear a click, indicating that
the puncture is complete.
