inspiring the joy of listening

Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc. (TADL) grew from the spirit to discover technologies to perfectly recreate the pure
sound of live performances with uncompromising craftsmanship. We have inherited our philosophy from Bart Locanthi—
recognized across the globe as the ultimate sound technologist—who believed that genuine technology is true to the basics
and that genuine technology places greater importance on sound quality than on technology for its own sake.
At TADL, we are honing our technology to create equipment that reproduces musical sounds that evoke both the energy and
impact of live music.

Features

containing the "ultra-high speed c/n * master clock circuit" and the "third-generation uPcG**"
There has been a lot of effort put into reducing the total amount of jitters in order to achieve high sound quality. But here at
the TAD lab, we have focused on suppressing jitters in the low-frequency sideband ranges relative to the center frequencies.
We tried to further improve the sound quality and C/N by adopting the "SC-cut crystal piece" and subsequently succeeded in
letting the "UPCG" evolve to the third generation.
Based on technologies developed for high-speed digital base-station relay facilities, the master clock with its dedicated
oscillators and high-purity conductivity deliver the ultimate performance demanded by a CD player, allowing it to reproduce to
perfection the signals engraved on the disc.
*C/N: Carrier-to-Noise ratio
**UPCG: Ultra-high-Precision Crystal Generator
Purification of the power circuit
We tried to minimize power circuit's contact with the outgoing lines by using the pigtail type inner winding for the power
transformer for the sake of high-level purification. We also suppressed the magnetostriction thoroughly by soldering with non-
magnetic materials and using OFC pure copper for the terminals for the pigtail-style lines, terminals for mounting substrates
and fastening screws.
twin Differential D/a converters
The D/A converters of Burr-Brown (192 kHz/24 bit) are used in parallel to improve audio performance, including S/N ratio,
linearity, dynamic range and distortion rate. These features allow even delicate audio signals to be played back faithfully,
creating a greater degree of breadth in musical reproduction.
independent Power supply
The unit features a power unit housed independently from the CD player itself. We separated the power unit from the main
unit, which could eliminate the harmful effects of extraneous vibration and magnetic flux leakage from the power unit on the
CD transport mechanism and audio circuits. Further, the audio and digital sections feature independent toroidal transformers
with super-powerful 400 VA performance (on a par with the performance found in a power amp), producing the high response
necessary to follow virtually any signal, and achieving both high power and low noise.
original cD mechanism with high-precision loading facility and excellent quietness
In order to pursue high-precision and accurate replay, we are developing original ideas at TAD. Our newly designed "High-rigidity
CD/SACD mechanism" enables operations with excellent vibration-damping properties due to the high-precision loading
mechanism using metal bearings. The pickup part employing infinite optical path shows highly stable performance and high
reading precision.
High-rigidity construction with Low center of Gravity
In order to suppress the deleterious influence of external vibrations, a highly rigid cast-aluminum chassis with three-point
suspension has been introduced. Placement of the massive heavy base has been designed to lower the center of gravity, thus
further reducing vibrations. These design elements have made it possible to reproduce music signals with great stability while
avoiding the vibration caused by speaker pressure and other sources.
Dac Mode
With its high-precision D/A converters and high-purity master clock oscillators, the unit demonstrates equally high
performance as a D/A converter unit. A sampling rate converter and ultra-high C/N master clock for reclocking make possible
high-precision conversion.
