8. Reinstall belt access cover and secure
with wing knobs.
REPLACE TRANSAXLE DRIVE
BELT
Remove Transaxle Drive Belt
1. Remove wing knobs retaining access
cover and remove cover. See Figure 31.
2. Remove PTO belt from clutch. See
Remove PTO Belt on page 27.
CAUTION: Use care when
releasing idler spring tension.
Keep body parts away from
idlers when performing this
operation.
3. Remove hardware retaining clutch stop
bracket and J-clamp and remove bracket.
See Figure 38.
4. Under unit, slowly remove spring hook
from anchor bolt to release transaxle idler
belt tension. See Figures 39 and 40.
5. Model 988184 Only: Loosen belt ground
tensioning idler arm nut and lower the
tensioning arm to allow clearance. See
Figure 39.
