Labeling a CD

(For a CD unit w ith the custom file function)
You can label each disc with a personalized
name. You can enter up to eight characters for
a disc. If you label a CD, you can locate the
disc by name (page 13) and select the specific
tracks for playback (page 14).

Start playing the disc you w ant to label.

Press (MENU) , then press either side of
(DISC/PRST) repeatedly until "NAM E
EDIT" appears.

Press (ENTER) .

Enter the characters.
1 Press the (+) side of (DISC/PRST)
repeatedly to select the desired
characters.

If you press the (–) side of (DISC/PRST)
repeatedly, the characters will appear in
reverse order.
If you want to put a blank space
between characters, select "_" (under-
bar).
2 Press the (+) side of (SEEK/AMS) after
locating the desired character.
The next character flashes.
If you press the (–) side of (SEEK/AMS),
the previous character flashes.
3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enter the
entire name.

To return to normal CD play mode, press
(ENTER) .
Tips
• To erase or correct a name, ent er " _" (under-bar)
f or each charact er.
• There is anot her w ay t o st art labeling a CD. Press
(LIST) f or t w o seconds inst ead of st eps 2 and 3.
You can also complet e t he operat ion by pressing
(LIST) f or t w o seconds inst ead of st ep 5.
Displaying t he disc m em o
Press (DSPL) during CD or CD TEXT disc
playback.
Each time you press (DSPL) during CD or
CD TEXT disc playback, the item changes
as follows:
Disc number *
Elapsed playback time
Disc memo name
Track name *

While an opt ional CD unit is connect ed.

If you connect an opt ional CD unit w it h t he

CD TEXT f unct ion, t he CD TEXT inf ormat ion
w ill appear in t he display w hen you play a
CD TEXT disc.
Note
Do not use t he Cust om f ile f eat ure w hile driving,
or perf orm any ot her f unct ion w hich could divert
your at t ent ion f rom t he road.
