Grounding and Shielding

Proper grounding and shielding is important to reduce the effects of electro-magnetic
interference. Qualified EMI emissions, RFI / Lightning / ESD protection and antenna
signal performance can only be guaranteed if the system equipment is grounded and
interconnect wiring is shielded as per the wire reference diagrams.
Please note: The control connector provides chassis ground pins for applications in
which the control head is not mounted to metal aircraft structure.
3.7.3

Aircraft Load Analysis Support

Refer to the electrical specifications section for information on the 28VDC bus current
draw for each type of equipment. The installer must verify that the total load of all of the
selected XM devices, in addition to the existing equipment load of the aircraft, will not
exceed the capacity of the aircraft's power system.
