3. Start-up
Use the switch (9) on the control box (8) to switch the de-
vice on. When the device is switched on, the switch lights
up red.
When not in use, switch the unit off again with the switch
(9).
If the copy stand and the lighting unit are operated to-
gether, first turn the control box switch (9) and the lighting
unit power supply switch into "ON" position (I), and then
start both units together with the switch on the multiple
socket outlet (39). The displays of the lamps now show a
lamp symbol and the word "auto" and the lamps are wait-
ing for a command from the "Kaiser autoDrive" control
program. Control via the control knobs on the lights is now
disabled.
When not in use, you can switch off both devices together
with the switch on the multiple socket outlet (39). The
switch (9) on the control box (8) and the switch on the po-
wer supply unit of the lighting unit can remain in the "ON"
position (I). If required, both devices can be switched on
again together with the switch on the multiple socket out-
let.
4. Height adjustment
The height adjustment of the travelling carriage (2) is
motorized and can be controlled either by the "Kaiser
autoDrive" program or with the cable remote control (10).
4.1.
For computerized operation with the "Kaiser autoDrive"
program first switch on the copy stand (and the lighting
unit if required), then open the program on the PC/Laptop.
Note: If the message "Communication error !" is displayed,
please check whether all cables are connected correctly. It
could also be that in the system menu the check box "use
LED light" is marked without a lighting unit being connec-
ted (see operating instructions for the "Kaiser autoDrive"
control program). Delete the check mark, then press
"Repeat".
When controlling with the program, an emergency stop
can be triggered with any key on the cable remote control
(10). Control via the program is only possible again when a
key on the cable remote control is pressed again.
For the operation of the program, please refer to the expla-
nations in the separate operating instructions for the
"Kaiser autoDrive" control program.
4.2.
If there is no connection to a PC/laptop or if the "Kaiser
autoDrive" program is not active, you can control the
height adjustment with the cable remote control (10):
After switching on the unit, green LEDs flash on the four
left keys (18). Briefly press the ▲ key (19) to calibrate the
height position. Thereupon the carriage (2) moves all the
way up. After calibration has been done, the green LEDs
on the keys are no longer illuminated and you can now
change the height position of the carriage: Up and down
travel at low speed can be achieved by pressing the ▲ (19)
or ▼ (21) key, for high speed you additionally press the
key (20).
The four keys on the left (18) are used to save and retrieve
certain height positions. A previously chosen height posi-
tion can be assigned to a memory key (18) by pressing it
until the LED on the key lights up green. If you press this
memory key again briefly, the carriage (2) will move exactly
to the previously saved height position and after reaching
it, the green LED on the memory key lights up.
In the same manner as described above, already assigned
height positions can be overridden by new assignments.
The assignments will remain stored even after the copy
stand is switched off.
If you want to stop the carriage (2) at a certain height po-
sition during travel, press the red "STOP" key (22). Also
make use of this key immediately if there is a danger of
a collision.
Note: If the "STOP" key (22) is pressed while the carriage
(2) is not moving, the green LED lights up on the keys with
a stored height position.
5. Horizontal adjustment
Turn the adjusting cranks (30) to set the camera carrier (5)
horizontally. You can lock the position with the blocking
screws (31).
6. Camera mounting
The camera carrier (5) is suitable for all photographic, profes-
sional, film, video and television cameras up to a weight of 15
kg (33 lbs.).
Fasten the camera by means of the connection thread (4) on
the mounting plate (3) of the camera carrier.
The standard 3/8" connection thread can be replaced by the
1/4" connection thread included (17). To do this, undo the scr-
ew (26) (e.g. with a coin) and replace the 3/8" thread by the
1/4" thread.
The connection thread can be fitted in three different height
positions (34) - (36) on the camera mounting plate (3).
Loosen the locking screw (25) to move the camera sideways.
Tighten it firmly after moving the camera.
To adjust and tilt the camera, the camera carrier (5) can be til-
ted upwards and downwards by a maximum of 90° and fixed
in any position. Proceed as follows: Secure the position of the
camera with your hand and loosen the locking screw (32).
Align the camera. Use the fine adjustment handle (28) for sen-
sitive adjustment. Then retighten the locking screw (32). The
vertical position of the camera carrier (5) in relation to the ba-
seboard can be checked with the aid of the spirit level (27) on
the camera carrier, and fixed to stop accidental movement by
tightening the fixing screws (33). This is done with the 4 mm
Allen wrench (12).
7. Maintenance and care
All the moving parts are designed to operate without regu-
lar maintenance. If it is frequently used, grease the spindle
(23) from time to time with the grease supplied, also when
becoming more noisy. Use only the Kaiser spindle grease
(no. 000561200027).
If the travelling carriage (2) shows play, it can be readju-
sted. (Please only do this if necessary.) Use the following
method: Undo the two front fixing screws (38) on both side
parts of the travelling carriage with the 4 mm Allen wrench
(12). Then tighten up the four setting screws (37) on the
front evenly with the 2 mm Allen wrench (13). Make sure
you do not overtighten the setting screws (37). Then tigh-
ten up the fixing screws (38).
