TROUBLESHOOTING
Problems(Symptoms)
Poor starting
Black area along weld bead
Output quits momentarily; gas
flow and hi-freq are also
interrupted
Arc flutters
Output shut off during welding
Problems(Symptoms)
Poor starting
Stick electrode "blasts off" when
arc is struck
Electrode "sticks" in weld puddle
Observe all Safety Guidelines detailed throughout this manual
Possible Cause
Poor work clamp connection
Start current is too low
Oily or organic contamination on work
piece
Tungsten electrode may be
contaminated
Leaks in gas line or torch connection
Gas tank is near empty
Pulser may be turned on inadvertently
Electrode may be too large for current
setting
Insufficient gas shielding
Contaminated gas or leaks in gas line,
torch, or connections
Faulty Components, PC Boards or
Connections
Observe all Safety Guidelines detailed throughout this manual
Possible Cause
Poor work clamp connection
Current may be set too high for
electrode size
Current may be set too low for electrode
size
Arc force set too low
Recommended Course of Action
Check and secure work connection
Increase start current
Clean work piece
Grind to clean electrode
Check connection
Replace the gas tank
Check for proper machine ground connection;
surrounding machines that generate hi-freq
also should be grounded properly
Turn Pulser off
Use smaller Tungsten
Adjust flow rate
Check gas line & connections
