SMP Expansion Port

There are up to six SMP Expansion Ports that are used to interconnect the SMP

Modules in your server.

The following illustration shows the pin-number assignments for the SMP Expansion

Port on the end of the cable.

The serial port comes with your server in the same box which contained this

publication and other components.

The following illustration shows the pin-number assignments for the serial port.

The server has four connectors that are used by the Remote Supervisor Adapter or

Remote Supervisor Adapter II-EXA. Three of the connectors are located on the

adapter and one is located at the lower left corner of the rear panel (as viewed from

the rear).

If you want to use the Remote Supervisor Adapter to manage the server remotely

or to connect the server to another server, connect the appropriate cables to the

Remote Supervisor Adapter connectors.

To enable remote server management through a network, use the Remote

Supervisor Adapter Ethernet port (RJ-45). To enable remote server management

using a modem, use the Remote Supervisor Adapter management port. To connect

the server with another server, use the ASM interconnect port (RJ-14). See the
