To assist the operator in becoming familiar with the
features of the FL85, and to support development of
operational and maintenance procedural knowledge, this
manual provides detailed operating and maintenance
instructions, as well as safety information and equipment
data.
1. Link: The pivot point between the carrier and the
felling head.
2. Swing damper: Uses hydraulic fluid to dampen the
swing and fall of the tree.
3. Rotator: Hydraulic-driven rotation of the felling head.
4. Tilt-bracket: A U-shaped bracket that pivots the
felling head vertically and horizontally.

5. Tilt-bracket cylinder: This component allows the tree
to fall in a controlled way.
6. Main-frame: The main structural component of the
felling head; it includes an integrated oil reservoir.
7. Grapple cylinder: This moves the grapple arms back
and forth.
8. Single grapple arm: This arm fits between the double
grapple arms; it is used to clamp the tree.
9. Double grapple arm: Also used to clamp the tree,
this arm fits over and under the single grapple arm.
10. Main-saw chamber: This houses the main-saw
assembly.
11. 3/4" saw: This performs the main length-cutting
operation.
