If the crossed-out bin symbol appears on the equipment or packaging, this means the product must not be included with other general waste at the end of its working life. The user must take the worn product to a sorted waste centre, or return it to the retailer when purchasing a new one. Products ready for disposal and measuring less than 25cm can be consigned free of charge to dealers whose sales area covers at least 400m², without any purchase obligation. An efficient sorted waste collection for the environmentally friendly disposal of the used device, or its subsequent recycling, helps avoid the potential negative effects on the environment and people's health, and encourages the re-use and/or recycling of the construction materials. GEWISS actively takes part in operations that sustain the correct salvaging and re-use or recycling of electric and electronic equipment.

PACK CONTENTS

1 zigbee window sensor
1 Magnet
1 Installation and User Manual
2 AAA batteries

BRIEFLY

The sensor is equipped with
The zigbee window sensor GWA1513 detects the opening and closure of doors and windows. It can easily be installed on any door or window. The sensor emits a radio message whenever it's separated from the magnet, so you know when somebody has entered the room, or when a door or window has been left open, etc.
The sensor is equipped with (Figure A):
A1. red LED for programming
A2. green signalling LED for door/window closure
A3. Multi-purpose push-button

ASSEMBLY

ASSEMBLY
To install the device (figure C):

  1. Clean the assembly surface.
  2. Assemble the sensor (C1) on the frame using the double-sided tape on the back of it; press firmly to fix it in place.
  3. Assemble the magnet (C2) on the door or window, at a maximum distance of 5mm from the grey arrow on the sensor.
  4. After installing the two parts, check that the signalling LED (A2) lights up briefly when the magnet is brought close to the sensor.

Tips for positioning the sensor:

  • The magnet must be positioned on the side of the sensor that has a small grey triangle.
  • The magnet can be positioned at right angles to the side of the sensor, or parallel to it.
  • The sensor and magnet may be assembled on different three-dimensional planes, but this will affect the maximum permitted distance.
  • If installed on magnetic surfaces (e.g. a metal door), the maximum distance between the sensor and the magnet must be 3mm.

warningDO NOT INSTALL the sensor:

  • Near magnetic or electromagnetic fields
  • Near hard disks, magnetic cards, data storage devices, acoustic devices or loudspeakers, as the magnetic field created by the magnet could damage them

FUNCTIONS

The device performs the following functions:
Detection of door/window opening or closure
This device detects the opening and closure of a door or window, and sends a zigbee radio signal.
Temperature sensor
The device has a built-in temperature sensor. the temperature value is sent every minute if the variations are more than 0.1°C, or every 10 minutes if the value remains constant.

NETWORK CONFIGURATION

Joining to the network
The window sensor can be added (with the factory settings) to an existing zigbee network, by inserting the battery. It will automatically launch a search for a zigbee network to connect to (maximum 15 minutes). Make sure the zigbee network is open ("permit join" active). During the search, LED A1 will flash every second. When the device is associated with a network, the search ends and the LED stops flashing and switches off. If the search time expires, it can be restarted by a short press on the multi-purpose push-button (A3).

Factory reset
Factory reset
In the event of anomalous device operation, or before using it in a new zigbee network, you must reset it.
To make the factory reset of the device and restore the factory conditions:

  1. Open the device casing by pressing the fixing base on the top part (Figure B).
  2. Remove the batteries, then re-insert them.
  3. Press the multi-purpose push-button (A3) and hold it until the programming LED (A1) starts flashing continuously.
  4. Release the push-button.
  5. Once the reset has been completed, the device will search for a new network to connect to, and LED A1 will flash every second.

The device resumes its factory configuration, deleting all the bindings and the data relating to the zigbee network that it was formerly connected to.

BINDING CREATION/DELETION

The bindings and application functions can be configured via software or locally, using the multi-purpose push-button. Detailed information about the configuration parameters and their values is given in the technical manual of the zigbee Commissioning Tool software (www.gewiss.com).
Binding of door/window status and measured temperature (EZ Mode Initiator)
To associate the window sensor with at least one zigbee device that uses the door/ window status or the measured temperature value, you must:

  1. Activate the identification mode on the device that you want to link with the window sensor
  2. Press the multi-purpose push-button (A3) of the window sensor and keep it held for about 5 seconds, until the programming LED (A1) flashes, then release it.
  3. Make sure the programming LED of the window sensor flashes regularly (every 3 seconds), indicating the compatible device search phase; if this is not the case, repeat the procedure from point 2
  4. If the binding was completed correctly, or if the compatible device search phase has expired (3 minutes), the programming LED will stop flashing.

REPLACING THE BATTERY

When the batteries are run down, the programming LED (A1) will make a double flash every minute.
To replace the batteries, open the device casing by pressing the fixing base on the top part (Figure B). Insert the new batteries, respecting the polarity. Close the casing and check the device is working properly.
